Genus Ammotrechinus Roewer 1934

Genus Ammotrechinus Roewer 1934

Ammotrechinus Roewer, 1934: 599; Muma, 1970a: 50; Muma, 1976: 26.

Diagnosis:  Roewer (1934) characterized the genus as follows:

"Ammotrechinae, deren 2. und 3. Tarsus ventral mit jeweils 2.2.2.2 Dornen und deren 4. Tarsus ventral mit 2.2/2/2.1 Dornen bewehrt ist (Abb. 335, d, h); Cheliceren am unbeweglichen Finger mit 2 Vorderzähnen vor dem Zwischenzahn und am beweglichen Finger mit 1 medialen Wangenzahn neben dem Hauptzahn (Abb. 339, a und 340, a)."

[Ammotrechinae whose 2nd and 3 Tarsus each bear 2.2.2.2 ventral spines and whose 4th tarsus bears 2.2/2/2.1 ventral spines (Fig. 335, d, h).  Immovable finger of chelicerae with 2 anterior teeth in front of the median tooth and movable finger with 1 medial cheek tooth next to the main tooth (Fig. 339, a and 340, a).]

Type species: Solpuga gryllipes Gervais, 1842, by original designation.

Distribution:  Haiti and Jamaica.
