This website is an evolving work-in-progress
associated with a major collaborative research project (Global Survey and Inventory
of Solifugae) funded by the Biodiversity Surveys and Inventories program
of the U.S. National Science Foundation (Grants 0640219 and 0640245).
The site provides
information about the biology, taxonomy, and distribution of members of the
arachnid order Solifugae, information about ongoing research
projects involving solifuges, a list of museum holdings of solifuges, and an
extensive bibliography. The most recent update (March 26, 2009)
provides taxonomic summaries for those members of the family Ammotrechidae
currently assigned to the subfamily Ammotrechinae. Please use
the buttons to the left to navigate through the site.
Content contributors to this
site include Warren Savary (webmaster), Alexander Gromov,
Kristie Reddick, Bob Wharton, Lorenzo Prendini, Jason Dunlop, Paula
Cushing, and Jack Brookhart, among others. Photographers and artists are credited in
the captions of the individual photographs and illustrations appearing within the site.
A downloadable bibliography is now available on the site, as are .pdf files
containing some of the more important literature.
